Jay Northcote delivers a sweet and super realistic Christmas story. Two guys wanting to be together in Christmas and in life.

Secret Santa by Jay Northcote
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

3.5 stars, rounding up to 4.

A very nice read. Very realistic and sweet.

Theo and Luke, two characters with secrets, looking for that special person meant to be the one. That's what we have here, a drama free Christmas tale of two guys falling in love and trying to fit in each other's life.

Jay Northcote delivers a story that felt very real, they felt very real. Ordinary guys, with normal lives and everyday problems. Two sweet men with average jobs, troubles in the dating game and some secrets.
Don't you worry because those secrets, the misunderstandings between them, are not heavy stuff difficult to solve that requires tears from the reader. No. We're talking about little lies (or not that little but understandable in the beginning of a relationship). This is done to make you feel good, to make you smile and to make you wish the best for the couple. Two lonely guys, one Christmas Eve, the weeks previous to that and the …

Kassia Bacon writes bautifully and I tell you here with two reviews in one in The Inspector Skaer Series (Framed in The Order Universe)

The Poison Within by Kasia Bacon
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Kasia Bacon CAN write

And probably I could stop here adding just a "read the book" convincing gif. But instead, I will try to tell why this worked for me without giving out anything significant.

In about 50 pages the author has managed to let us feel the story. Her prose is evocative and beautiful, letting you in, pushing you there until, suddenly, you're immerse in her world.
And what world is that? The Order Universe, a world I need to immerse myself in, starting by the first book in the series: The Mutt The Order #1
I must say It's not necessary to read The order series before reading this one, since it's the same world but different characters and settling.  We have to read the series though, because I've been told both books (The Mutt and the The Highlander The Order #2) are marvelous. To be honest, the glimpses I saw here, got me completely invested.

I guess even not-fans of paranormal should t…

A Gentle Sin: My door opens to some incest... sadly, I loved the idea but not the execution

Our Gentle Sin by Lyra Evans
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

Spoiler alert! Spoiler alert! Please don´t read this review if you don´t want to know... Or read it at your own risk! you´ve been warned.

First of all, I need to clarify something: one thing is what I think about this book as a whole, which could be summarized as: this is a sexy story, easy to read and very entertaining. And a complete different thing is how I judge this book under a realistic prism. If I rated guided by this last one I'd given it 2 stars maximum. But I'm not doing it and I'm trying to be honest with myself and the grade of enjoyment this book gave me so I'm setting the rate in 3 stars, which is pretty good, IMHO. Let's say is a 2.5 stars rounded up.

So... to the point that matters...

This is a NA story, where the MCs instead of being roomies or acquaintances at Uni are identical twins... hahahaha I'm still laughing my ass off. Surrealist, funny and sexy, this is my first twincest story and Iz…

Anyta, as usual, nails the cute department but she surpassed herself in the humor. Loved this third installment in the Signs of Love

Gemini Keeps Capricorn by Anyta Sunday
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

4.5 super feel-good stars.

One of the slowest burns I've ever read, masterfully delivered by Anyta's writing. This is a sweet everyday story full of cute nonsenses, funny moments, love and friendship.

This third installment in the signs of love talked to me louder than  Scorpio hates Virgo. Much louder. It is true that  Leo loves Aries is still my fav but because, to me, Theo and Jaime's story is difficult to beat since I conceive it as the happy place of the slow burns.
But Gemini keeps Capricorn is very close to book one, battling it with some great and killer weapons:

- Friends to lovers
- Fake boyfriends
- Forbidden love or love against the rules.

The result? A winner with two adorbs as protagonists that complement their differences perfectly, melting opposite personalities as if they were mixing vivid colors, creating this way a bright and shinny common place (cheesy, I know and I'm sorry but it came from …

D.J Jamison, a new author to me, and one I´ll be follow. Nice and entertaining holiday read.

Yours For The Holiday by D.J. Jamison
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

First of all: that cover... I have no words for it...but we all know that out there there are a lot of cringing covers that deserves the Fahrenheit 451 treatment.

But the book is good and the only cringing thing about it, it's the cover. Promise. So forget the sacrilegious bonfires, open the book without looking at the man with the Santa hat, and prepare yourself to start burning for a very different reason.

The premise here is one that always attracts me: gay guy with a crush for his brother's best friend who is straight and -apparently- imposible to get. If we add to the mix a frenemies kinda relationship and a flirtatious attitude, I'm game. Pretty simple.
And that's what we have in Yours for the Holiday.  A sexy read with a huge dose of family (good stuff, not the homophobic kind, it's thanksgiving + Christmas, after all) some sweet and cute moments and great dirty talk

Both MCs felt real to m…

Anyta´s Sunday´s Nest melted my heart and gave me all the feelz

nest by Anyta Sunday
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Sometimes, when I'm having a tough day or just a long one, the only thing that comes to my mind is arriving my comfy and warm home, kiss my hubby and kids, pour myself a glass of wine and get lost in a book. And, this time, mad and tired, I chose Nest to make my day better.
Unsurprisingly, Anyta's writing worked its magic and my humor changed in an instant. I started to feel better, warmed, absorbed and withdrew with the comfort you only feel in your happy place, surrounded by the people you love.

This is the story of Lenny and Julian. The story of a forbidden wanting and longing that starts when our MCs are kids and goes over the years till they are grown up men battling their feelings, preconceived ideas and their past.
This is the story of two cousins, two friends, learning about life and yes, falling in love.
Nest shows us their coming of age, first experiences, rejections and fears... and the way it´s shown... totally my kind of s…

I've discovered Kasia Bacon's writing with this Holiday freebie and she is so good!

Blessing and Light by Kasia Bacon
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

What a huge surprise this one has been! I don't know how is it possible for a so, so short length read to concentrate that much, but it touches banter, a bit of angst and love in a perfect way.
Wonderful writing too, and so evocative. I could feel the cold night described in that first page. So good.

This is a super short story included in The Order Universe but perfectly suitable for outsiders, like me. Not for a long time, I must say. The Mutt, The order #1 is now up in my extended tbr. I seriously loved the way she writes.

What is this freebie about? Fireworks in The Night of Winter Lights, two attractive characters having dinner and a wish becoming true.

Blessing and Light will be out for free on December 5 and if what I've said is not incentive enough you have the plus that this has been written for a charity cause, to support LGBT rights, and that's always a good thing!
